On September 24, 2025, a tragic three-vehicle accident occurred on northbound Telegraph Road near Long Lake Road in Bloomfield Township, resulting in the death of a 70-year-old man from Detroit. The incident unfolded around 10:15 AM when a Bloomfield Township police officer observed a maroon Ford Explorer driving erratically, crossing lanes and even driving on the median.
Despite attempts by the police to stop the Explorer, the vehicle continued northbound, striking several cars before colliding with a large box truck. The Explorer finally came to a stop at Hickory Grove. Unfortunately, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators suspect that he may have been experiencing a medical emergency before and during the crash. Fortunately, the drivers of the other vehicles involved were not injured.
In response to the accident, police quickly closed Telegraph Road at Long Lake and began diverting traffic. The road remained closed for several hours but has since reopened.
