October 22, 2025, a 25-year-old journeyman lineman tragically lost his life after being struck by a vehicle while preparing a job site near Marquette, Michigan. The incident occurred on M-553 near Silver Creek Road in Sands Township, as reported by the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office.
According to preliminary details released by the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA), the lineman was in the process of laying wire for setup when the accident happened. He was chaining down a wire reel on a trailer connected to a digger truck, positioned about six feet off the road. A vehicle reportedly crossed the white edge line, striking the passenger side of the digger truck and subsequently hitting the lineman at the back of the trailer.
This tragic incident marks the 36th worker death in Michigan for 2025, highlighting the ongoing risks faced by workers in the field. As investigations continue, the victim’s name and the specific cause of the crash have yet to be released.
